Genesis Towers Town Hall Meeting

Event Date: June 4, 2026

The Gary Housing Authority hosted the Genesis Towers Resident & Partner Town Hall on June 4, 2026, as part of the Northwest Greater Gary Gateway Choice Neighborhoods Initiative. The event brought together Genesis Towers residents, community partners, local stakeholders, and project team members to provide updates on the planning process and encourage meaningful community participation.

During the Town Hall, attendees received an overview of the Choice Neighborhoods Initiative, the Northwest Greater Gary Gateway planning area, community demographics, resident involvement opportunities, and preliminary findings from resident and neighborhood data collection. Participants also took part in interactive engagement activities designed to gather community input on housing, neighborhood improvements, accessibility, transportation, commercial development, and public investments. These activities support the development of a resident-driven Transformation Plan that reflects the priorities and vision of the community.

Purpose

The purpose of the Resident & Partner Town Hall was to provide updates on the Northwest Greater Gary Gateway Choice Neighborhoods Initiative while engaging residents and community stakeholders in the planning process. The meeting provided an opportunity to share findings from community and resident engagement efforts, educate participants about the Choice Neighborhoods planning process, gather feedback through interactive activities, and encourage continued participation as the Transformation Plan is developed.

Outcomes

The Town Hall increased awareness of the Choice Neighborhoods Initiative and generated valuable feedback on future housing, neighborhood improvements, transportation, accessibility, commercial development, and community services. The event also strengthened collaboration among residents, community partners, and stakeholders while helping identify priorities that will inform the Northwest Greater Gary Gateway Transformation Plan. Most importantly, the meeting reinforced the value of continued community engagement to ensure the Transformation Plan reflects the needs and aspirations of those who live and work in the community
